Shelby Jean Davis Holley, age 84, passed peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2023. She was born January 2, 1939 to the late James Moten Davis & Ola Gertrude Amos Davis in Rocky Mount, VA, and lived there her whole life. She married her high school sweetheart and bus driver; Jimmy Marion Holley and they have been married for 68 years. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Francis Davis Turner, Eula May Davis Ayers and Bettie Gertrude Davis Turner; brothers, James Russell Davis, Harvey Howard Davis, Mark Albert Davis, Moten Junior Davis, and Charlie Lloyd Davis; two of her children, Peggy Jean Holley and Jimmy Marion Holley, Jr. She leaves behind her loving husband, Jimmy; daughter, Wanda Gail Holley Horton (David Horton); step-granddaughter, Tiffany Harr (Logan Harr); step-great grandson, Don Harr; half-sister, Reva Spicer (Marvin Spicer); and sisters-in-law, Mary Metz (Johnnie Metz) and Linda Webb (E L Webb). Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 with Pastor Ricky Smithers and Pastor Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
