Pre-Planning

Pre-planning your arrangements or a loved one’s ensures that wishes are understood and respected, and that a plan is in place. Pre-planning also relieves loved ones of the responsibility of evaluating and choosing from many different options during what is an emotional time, and helps them take comfort knowing that final wishes are being followed. Pre-planning can be an economical choice as it locks in pricing and offers interest-free financing.

 FAQs

  • Burials are allowed on Saturday and Sunday, however the costs are slightly higher to have a service on either of these days as compared to a weekday.

  • You are not required to purchase a headstone from Franklin Memorial Park. However, to ensure visitors’ safety and the cemetery’s appearance, only Franklin Memorial Park staff is allowed to install the headstones. The installation fee is $1.25 per square inch, based on the measurements of the granite base.

  • A headstone is not required, but we strongly encourage having one so that the gravesite can be located easily in the future.

  • A flat bronze marker on a granite base is the only type of headstone that can be installed at the cemetery. Upright granite headstones, flat granite headstones, and other types of headstones are not allowed, but we do offer other options that can help memorialize your loved one.

  • A burial vault is an outer burial container that protects the casket from the underground elements. We offer many different types of vaults, and one is required in order to be buried in our cemetery.

  • By pre-planning your burial plans, you make the decisions about your final arrangements and pay for them before your time of need. Doing so places less of a burden on your family during an already stressful time in their lives. By pre-planning, your family won’t have to make difficult decisions at the time of need or pay out of pocket for your burial expenses.

  • You never pay for perpetual care as we are legally required to place 10 percent of all burial space sales into a Perpetual Care Trust account that is used only for ongoing general care, maintenance, and beautification of the cemetery.

  • The passing date scroll is not automatically added to the headstone unless someone has completed pre-planning and paid for their arrangements or a loved one’s. Contact our office for more information about purchasing the passing date scroll and having it installed.

  • There are several options when it comes to cremated remains. Burying an urn in the burial space you already own is one option. You can also trade your burial lot for a space in our columbarium – a designated space for storing ashes that does not require any burial. It features the decedent’s name, birth date, and passing date on their designated resting spot.

  • Yes, we can place an urn on top of a casket that was buried previously, and we can bury two urns in one grave space as well.

  • You will receive a deed to your burial space(s), however this deed is only for burial rights within that space. It’s not a deed to land like a traditional real estate deed is.

  • You can give your burial spaces to anyone you’d like. They can be transferred easily after completing some simple paperwork and paying a deed transfer fee at our office. You can also allow someone to use your spaces by signing a burial assignment permission form.

  • Please contact us with any needs you may have and our cemetery grounds staff will take care of it.
