Rebecca Ellis

Rebecca Woody Ellis, age 92 of Rocky Mount passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the daughter of Navie Woody and Maude Scott Woody. In addition to her parents, Rebecca was predeceased by her husband, Ford Ellis; and brother, Curtis Woody. She graduated from Franklin County High School in 1950 and served as Class Treasurer during her senior year. Her first job was with Peoples National Bank where she was secretary to the president before moving on to Dupont which she worked for over 25 years before retiring in the mid 80's. Rebecca enjoyed being outdoors and working in her flower beds along with singing in the choir at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, but her greatest joy in life was her son whom she continued to recognize until the day she died even though Alzheimer’s had taken away most of her precious memories. She is survived by her son, Mark and daughter-in-law Kimberly; sister-in-law, Vita Davis Woody; and other nieces and cousins. The family would like to extend their gratitude to her very special friend and caregiver, Joyce Brown, Good Samaritan Hospice, and the staff at Woodland Hills-Memory Care Unit. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at Franklin Memorial Park with Mr. Keith Motley officiating. Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. The family kindly requests no food or flowers. Memorial donations can be made to Franklin County Rescue Squad or a charity of your choice.
