Julian C. "JC" Starr, Jr. 86 of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian C. Starr, Sr. and Lois Kemp Starr.
An avid outdoorsman, JC loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing guitar and spending time on the farm.  More than anything, he loved his family and people.  Never complaining, he kept a sense of humor even throughout all of his sickness in later years.
JC is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Pendleton Starr, their children, Susan Parsons and husband, Shelton, Traci Starr, Chad Starr; 4 grandchildren, Seth Parsons and spouse Shanna, Lindsay Parsons, Megan Walsh and spouse Jody; 5 great grandchildren, Katlin Bullis, Micah Cayton, Madison Parsons, Nella Mae Parsons, Hudson Walsh; his sister, Kathryn Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, September 25, 2023, at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Michael DuVal officiating.  Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 PM, Monday, at the funeral home.
