Joyce Sigmon

Joyce Ann Sigmon, age 89 of Rocky Mount (proudly born and raised in Callaway), stepped quietly into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Born October 12, 1935, to Teb and Mildred Renick, Joyce spent her early years working on the family farm with her prized horse, “Peggy,” creating cherished memories she later talked about often with family and friends. As a young teenager, she married her first love, Ted “Carl” Law, with whom she raised two children before his sudden passing in 1974. Joyce was later blessed with a second special love, Eugene Sigmon. Married in 1987, they enjoyed many happy years traveling through life together until his passing in 2012.

A natural cook from a young age, Joyce found joy in feeding everyone she met. She served faithfully at Woodlawn Baptist Church, singing in the choir and preparing countless meals for her church family. In 1991, she co-founded Heavenly Manna Food Bank in Rocky Mount, one of her proudest accomplishments outside of being a mother and grandmother. She devoted many years there, providing food for those in need and preparing home-cooked meals for the volunteers and trustees who served alongside her.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings: “Buck” Renick, “Duck” Renick, Roy Renick, Mary Sink, and Eva Weaver.

Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 with Pastor Eddie Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
