Jean Carroll

It is will profound sadness, but grateful hearts that let those know and loved Jean Crabill Carroll to inform you that she has left us to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 20, 2025.  Leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and unwavering faith.

She was born April 17, 1948 in Woodstock, VA, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Crabill.  She was raised in Strasburg, VA, she was active in her church and sang at a lot of their functions as well as Christian Endeavor.  She loved singing Brenda Lee songs.

She graduated from Strasburg High School in 1966, then went to Roanoke, VA to go to nursing school to become an LPN.  She did extra training to become a scrub nurse in Roanoke Memorial Hospital operating room, then a nurse for Oral surgeon, Dr. Wompler.  In 1989, she became head medication nurse at Franklin Manor Rest Home and later worked at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital on the Med-Surg floor where she gave medications and took care of patients with love and care and was well loved and appreciated by the people who worked with her and became close friends with a lot of them.  She loved to cook and was well known for her Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Meatloaf and Homemade rolls.

She married Robert E. “Bobby” Carroll who preceded her in death.  She is survived by her daughter, Chrystie Denise O’Carroll; brother, Rev. Ralph Crabill; sisters-in-law, Peggy Overstreet and Becky Crabill and cousin, Dr. Linda Gail Sheffield and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Franklin Memorial Park.
