Florence “Flossie” Elizabeth Willis, 87, of Roanoke went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayes and Wretha Worley, her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, Sidney Edward "Porky" Willis and son-in-law Tony Arra.
She is survived by her loving children, Pam Arra, Annie Guilliams and husband, Roger, Rev. Brady Willis and wife, Ruth and Blaine "Tot" Willis and wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Heidi Guilliams, Jessica Wilkes and husband, Christian, Mark Willis, Zach Willis and wife Ashley, Brandon Willis and wife LeAndra, Ryan Willis and wife, Lucia, and Mason Smiley; great grandchildren, Gavin Wilkes, Noah Wilkes, Chloe Willis and Emree Willis.
Flossie was a longtime faithful member of Garden City Baptist Church and was the first lady deacon there. She was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, WMU officer and served on numerous committees. She had the nickname as “The Cake Lady” and she and her husband delivered food for missions for over 20 years. She was a mother to many of her children’s friends.
A funeral service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Garden City Baptist Church with Pastor John Sweeney officiating. The visitation will be on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 2:00 till 4:00 and 6:00 till 8:00 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
