February 4, 1937 - July 13, 2023
"As the Lord would have it, her wonderful earthly life ended peacefully on Thursday, July 13, 2023 and began anew in heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ. Born on February 4, 1937, she grew up loving the outdoors, gardening, baking, sewing and most of all her large extended family. When at home she helped to care for her younger siblings and learned to love all aspects of homemaking including farming.
In 1955 after graduating from Franklin County High School she married her first boyfriend whom she began seeing at age 14. For a number of years, they raised tobacco, had a small dairy and were blessed with five children. She was always active with her children’s activities and was the ultimate sports mom. When her youngest was school age, she began to work outside of the home, first as a preschool assistant and eventually she worked in banking, retiring at 72 as an internal auditor.
Baking and decorating cakes were a particular pleasure for Mom though she was also a gifted seamstress and enjoyed numerous artistic hobbies. Family and friends will remember her cakes were not only beautiful but were delicious as well. For many years she also enjoyed being in the choir and teaching at Glade Hill Baptist Church.
